Mammals of Sears Island
Eleven species of large and medium mammals were identified during winter tracking studies. Small mammals (mice, shrews, and voles) were also noted during these studies, however, they were not generally identifiable to the species level. The number of species observed was generally highest in upland mixed and upland hardwood cover types, although the number of species recorded do not accurately account for unidentifiable individuals.
